Comberton's Reading Approach

Here are some key documents outlining how we teach Reading at Comberton Primary and useful tools which we use to support reading.

Comberton's Whole Class Reading Spines

These texts have been carefully selected to be shared with our children as part of their Reading lessons. We want all children to experience these by the time they leave Comberton. Pupils will study a selection of Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry throughout the year, with texts covering a range of themes from a variety of authors. Key Stage 1 will continue to work on texts closely matched to their developing phonics ability.

Early Years and KS1 Reading Rainbows

These are some of the texts that our children will share in their Story Times.

Reading at home

Please encourage your child their school reading book regularly at home, a minimum of 3 times a week. Encourage your child to re-read texts to help support them with their fluency, expression and comprehension.
