Our Christmas shows and carol concerts were a huge success!
Children from years 1-4 and all of year 6 paid visits to Brook Court to share Christmas activities with the residents.
Party time! EYFS & KS1 enjoyed a show from Magic Russ, year 4 performed a talent show and year 3 enjoyed Christmas quizzes and bingo!

Children dressed up in spots and considered how we can help others in support of Children in Need.
Anti-bullying Week (Kindness Week) Nov 2024
Celebrating everything that makes us unique and special on Odd Socks day.
Children explored the theme of "choose respect" in assemblies and class activities.

Hello Yellow - October 2024
Children dressed in sunny yellow in support of YoungMinds where we raised £244. We spent time on activities to promote positive mental health using our resources on Zones of Regulation.
Olympic Athlete Visit - September 2024
Judo double Commonwealth medallist and Olympian Jemima Yeats-Brown came to Comberton to inspire our children to pursue their dreams. The whole school took part in a sponsored cardio workout led by Jemima and then participated in an assembly where Jemima shared her inspirational story. She described her series of set-backs and her amazing successes, all fuelled by her motto of "if I get knocked down, I get back up again."
Art Galleries - July 2024
Comberton opened its doors for our first ever art gallery. Families were invited to visit the gallery to share and appreciate their children's fabulous artwork. The artwork includes a range of pieces, such as paintings, still life drawing, mixed media collage, digital photography, printing and sculpture to name a few! The progression in children's art skills and techniques from nursery through to year 6 was highly evident, and it was a real celebration of the children's achievements.
Year 4 Cornet Performance - 10/07/24
Year 4 proudly showed off their musical talents to a hall full of parents, carers and wider family. They have all been learning to play the cornet for the past year through Severn Arts music lessons as part of their music curriculum. They are able to read musical notation and perform simple melodies with a strong sense of rhythm and even built in dynamics to add to the musicality.
Year 5 Secondary Experience Day - 10/07/24
Year 5 enjoyed a fabulous day at King Charles I Secondary School where they took part in a whole host of activities as a taster for what high school could be like. They conducted experiments in the science lab, solved mathematical challenges, performed junk instrument pieces, produced beautiful artwork and took part in sports activities.
Chaos Magic - June 2024
We welcomed back an ex-student to Comberton today who performed magic shows for our children in years 2 and 3. We were so proud of him and the children had a blast!
PTFA Red and White Day - Euros June 2024
The Wonderful World of Water - Severn Trent - June 2024
Experts from Severn Trent visited Comberton to lead assemblies and workshops to teach the children all about water! They learnt about the water cycle, how water is cleaned, the impact of pollution and how water keeps our bodies healthy.
Virtuality Experience - May 2024
Our pupils in year 3 and 4 were delighted to take part in VR workshops which really brought their curriculum learning to life. Year 3 were transported to Greek times and year 4 explored a world of volcanoes!
Bikeability - May 2024
Well done to all the year 4 and 5s who took part in bikeability. The instructors were really impressed with the level of skill and ability shown as well as the effort put in by particular individuals.
Urban Strides Dance Workshops April 2024
Following a wonderful experience at Young Voices 2024 where Urban Strides were the headlining Street Dance Crew, Comberton pupils were desperate to work alongside such professional dancers. After securing a Local Council Grant, we managed to secure an Urban Strider to come to Comberton! Every child from years 1-6 took part in a street dance workshop, where they were able to let their hair down, express their creativity and explore the culture of hip hop dance. The staff even got involved and had their own 'feel-good' workshop after school to promote positive mental health and well-being.
Easter Fayre 21st March 2024
Thank you to everyone who donated and supported our Easter Fayre. We raised a massive £1560 for school fund and had great fun along the way! It was wonderful to see so many smiling families enjoying the fun and games!
PTA Film Night - 15th March 2024
A huge thank you to the PTA for hosting a film night for our Nursery and Reception children. They loved snuggling up with their friends, teddies and blankets and settling down to enjoy The Smeds and The Smoos with some sweet treats!
'Hands On Science' Workshops - 14th & 15th March 2024
Children from across all year groups have had a fabulous couple of days exploring the wonderful world of science through practical workshops led by an external company. Children have investigated friction, chemicals and human anatomy to name just a few! Year 6 put on their brave faces when dissecting a heart!
World Book Day 7.3.2024
Comberton celebrated World Book Day with a whole host of wonderful reading related activities. The children came dressed as their favourite book character or in their pjs ready to snuggle up with a good book. Children decorated paper plates with their favourite characters and engaged in lots of book talk. There was paired reading across the year groups, live world books day lessons - including physical activity and whole class book sharing. We finished the day with The Great Comberton Book Swap where children donated books from home in order to allow every child to choose a new book to take home. We even had local author 'Peter Cooper' hold his book signing for the launch of his new book 'Cat Magic', which had been previously reviewed by some of our pupils.
Live Netball Visit - Feb 2024
We had the pleasure of taking 12 children from our netball club to watch the live netball on Saturday evening at Worcester Arena. Worcester’s Team Severn Stars absolutely smashed it, winning by a huge margin. We got to meet the players after the game and get many of their autographs. The children were a credit to the school.

Young Voices - January 2024
Comberton Choir had their first ever experience of Young Voices, performing as part of the world's biggest children's choir with 5871 other pupils at Birmingham's Genting Arena, Resorts World. They performed with professional artists such as soul diva Natalie Williams, MC Grammar and street dance act Urban Strides.
They were inspired by 13 year old drummer Nandi Bushell and now can't wait for the opportunity to return next year. What an experience!
Christmas at Comberton
There have been so many wonderful events to celebrate this special time of year here at Comberton: from nativities to carol concerts, from parties to magicians, from talent shows to Boing Zone! We have made and delivered cards to our local care home to reach out to those who may be alone and the School Council have promoted the Shoe Box appeal to share the message of giving and generosity. Thank you to everyone for their hard work and support.
Christmas Jumper Day 2023!
Thank you to everyone who took part. There was a wonderful festive feel around school and we raised £284 for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Children in Need - November 17th 2023
Our School Council chose Children In Need as one of the National charities that they would like to support throughout the year and therefore invited everyone to come to school wearing spots! They also set up a giant Pudsey inspired art attack using loose change for each class to contribute to. Thank you to everyone who donated!

PCSO visit for year 5/6 - October 2023
The Police visited our eldest pupils to discuss hate crime and the importance of positive behaviours.
#HelloYellow - October 2023
We have raised £226 for supporting World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10th October. The children looked bright and cheery in their yellow clothes and accessories and had some really meaningful discussions around positive metal health and wellbeing through the activities in class and the NHS mental health team (WEST project) assemblies. Thank you to everyone who donated.
Phonics Workshops for Parents - September 2023
Thanks to all the parents who attended the Reception phonics workshop. There were lots of great ideas shared about how you can support your child at home as well as much information regarding how we teach phonics and reading at Comberton.
New Logo Challenge! September 2023
We are developing a new logo and strap line for our school and have had everyone involved! All staff and Governors contributed their ideas on the training day and children and families have shared their ideas through a challenge at home - thinking about what makes Comberton so special. School council have looked at the ideas so far and short listed favourite designs and slogans. Mrs Frost is now working with a professional designer to bring all of these ideas together - watch this space!
Coronation Family Picnic - 5th May 2023
What a wonderful turnout for our family Coronation picnic! The school was decorated with bunting and artwork from our design a stamp artwork competition. The children were given souvenir Coronation pencils and were joined by friends and family to celebrate this special and memorable event together over a picnic lunch.
Reading Challenge - April 23
Congratulations to the more than 100 children who participated in our reading challenge to read 3 books between world book day and Easter and be able to present these in a creative way. The winners were selected at random and received a £10 book voucher. Here are our proud winners:
Easter Fayre April 2023 - Thank you to everyone who supported our Easter Fayre. We raised £1300 for school funds!
Science Workshops - March 2023
'Hands On Science' delivered workshops to all the children from years 1-6. The children astounded us with their subject knowledge and scientific vocabulary and loved bring their learning to life through practical exploration of scientific concepts.
World Book Day - March 2023
The children had a wonderful time celebrating world book day. Our focus was reading for pleasure and the children came to school in their PJs or as their favourite book character. We shared books with our peers across the ages and the children even voted for their own 'Golden Shelf' books.
Financial Workshops - Feb 2023
A huge thank you to the 4 members of the HSBC Team who delivered financial workshops across the school to all children in years 1-6 this week. The children really enjoyed having these visitors in their classes and learning about maths in the real world! We were then awarded us with the Smart Money award for our engagement with the HSBC Financial Education sessions.
Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 7th February 2022
To recognise National Safer Internet Day we held assemblies and many classroom learning opportunities to reinforce the message of staying safe online. Our Digital Leaders took a really active role in promoting awareness across school and delivered assemblies to all the classes.
Mental Health Week - Feb 2023
Children's Mental Health Week 2023 will took place from 6-12 February 2023.
This year's theme is Let’s Connect and  is about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities and this connection is vital for our well-being. Having healthy connections – to family, friends and others – can support our mental health and sense of well-being. We explored this both in class and through assemblies.
Wear it Red Day Feb 2023
Thank you to all of those that supported Wear it Red day for Midlands Air Ambulance. The children enjoyed learning about how their fundraising would support the charity through an assembly, where we even had a recorded message from the air crew themselves. We raised over £300 for this life-saving service.

Santa Dash and Christmas Jumper Day - Dec 2022
The children looked just brilliant in their Christmas Jumpers today raising over £300 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Our annual Santa Dash also took place this morning and many of you will have seen the sleigh and reindeer ready on the playground . The children got active dashing around the playground singing along to Christmas music – great for building stamina!

Bedtime Stories - Nov 2022
Thank you to all the Reception children and parents/carers who joined us for bedtime stories. We loved seeing the children all snuggled up in their pyjamas, enjoying hot chocolate and biscuits and listening to stories.
Kindness (Anti-bullying) Week - Nov 2022
We launched kindness week with Odd Socks Day on Monday and many children were keen to show off their flamboyant socks! This sparked some really meaningful discussions around being unique and accepting and celebrating everyone’s differences. I also saw year 4 really considering how they could compliment their friends individually through an activity in class. Super work everyone!
Remembrance - Nov 2022
The children have been thinking about remembrance this week both in class and in assemblies.
Thank you to our school councillors who have been selling Poppy merchandise every day.
Well done to Reception, Years 4 and 5 who have taken part in the Pin the Poppy appeal in conjunction with the Police. They have created beautiful poppies made from the ends of plastic bottles and acrylic paint which will be pinned upon a steel cut out of soldier Tommy outside Kidderminster Police Station. The Police made a visit to school this week to collect our poppies and talk to the children in assembly.
NSPCC Assemblies - Nov 2022
We have delivered NSPCC Assemblies in school this week as an opportunity for children to discuss how to keep themselves safe. There have been some really meaningful discussions a result of this.
Hello Yellow - October 2022
We are delighted to announce that we raised £210.60 for MIND this week by taking part in Hello Yellow Day to raise awareness of Mental Health. The children have explored this both in assemblies and in class and it was lovely to see a sea of sunshine yellow on Monday! It definitely brought a smile to all of our faces.
Presenting - Comberton's Golden Shelf! Sep 2022
The teachers at Comberton asked themselves "What books do we think our children need to read or have heard before they leave Comberton?" These are the books the staff have chosen. Our children will have the opportunity to read these books in school, in the library and also at home through Seesaw.
Our Tribute to the Queen - Sep 2022
We were very proud of all the children today. They have spent time throughout the week, making flowers as a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen. We joined together on the playground as a whole school, with each child proudly holding their flower as we held a 1 minute silence. We are now making a beautiful corridor display with the children’s flowers in order to show our respects and remember Her Majesty the Queen.
