Reading for Pleasure

Why read to your child? A useful video to help you to understand the benefits of reading to your child regularly. It really is so important!

Reading for Pleasure

At Comberton, we value the importance of reading. We know that once children have learnt to read, they can continue to read to learn for the rest of their lives. To instil a love of reading in our children, we ensure that they have the opportunity to read and be read to using a variety of different texts. Each classroom has its own book corner and we have a fabulous library which our children regularly visit to loan books to take home. Daily shared reading sessions take place in each classroom where children are immersed in vocabulary rich texts.

Recommended Reads

Here are some of our recommended reads which you might like to share with your child. We have copies of these in our library for you to loan.

Make sure you ask each teacher why they chose that book for the shelf and share with them what you enjoyed about it too!

Don't forget our 'Golden Shelf' books from previous years are available in the library for you to borrow.
